Spirit of Shankly protest Ahead of Blackpool Game
Liverpool fans protested against the club’s owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett ahead of the match against Blackpool on Sunday.
A sit-in was also planned after the game to protest against the American duo, however, following Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to the seasiders, several fans showed their displeasure against Roy Hodgson at the sit-in.
Ever since Gillett and Hicks took over our beloved club, Liverpool Football Club have been on a downhill spiral.
January 2007: They promised a new stadium, they promised transfer funds for our manager, they promised not to add on debt, they promised to be good custodians of our club.
3 and a half years later, you can review every promise they made and you’ll be left disappointed. Enough is enough.
Several Liverpool fans and supporters group Spirit of Shankly have started online and offline campaigns against the two American owners and we wholeheartedly agree that the two cancers in the club need to be removed as soon as possible.
They have put the club up for sale, however that doesn’t mean that the club will be sold any time soon. Reports claim that they have set a high price-tag on the club so that they can make a profit – we need to stop this and show them that they still aren’t welcome at our club.
