Torres want's to beat Utd for the fans

Liverpool's under-fire striker Fernando Torres has said that he wants to repay the Reds' fans with a victory against arch-rivals Manchester United today.

Torres' performance last weekend at Birmingham City was criticized by many and under Roy Hodgson Liverpool have had a slow start to the season. Manchester United too have not had things all their way either, failing to overcome either Rangers or Everton over the past week.

With both sides under some pressure, Torres said that he knows exactly what this game means to Liverpool's supporters and he intends to give them what they want.

Torres told the Sunday Express, “This game means everything to our fans.

“We are the two most successful teams in England but it has not been nice for the Liverpool fans to watch United have so much success over recent years. We really hope to give the fans a trophy this season – as well as beating United for them.”
